The Rabbit’s vs Eagles’s Perspective
What do you see?
During a workshop, we all share the same spot but we don’t paint the same subject.
I invite my students to look around and to be aware of what inspire them. Someone may be interested in the whole landscape from a rabbit’s perspective which consists in looking at a lot of things at the same time. But someone else may have an eagle’s approach which targets a specific subject.

Crop the Landscape
Very often we just don’t know where to start from. Do you look below the horizon line or above? Do you zoom in a flower, a twig or bark?
During a session you will learn how to crop the scenery in a very easy way which will help you compose and transfer what you see on the white page.
Composition
The composition has some basic rules which will help you achieve an interesting art work. It helps to catch the observers’ attention and invite him/her to travel in your painting. During an outdoor class you will learn about the rule of thirds, and how to choose a focal point.
Sketch or Paint
Your Choice
My students bring their own art material which allow them to choose their favourite medium. You may prefer drawing, so just come along with your pencils. Or if you prefer painting, your watercolour or acrylic set will be prefect.

Confidence
Painting outside may feel like a challenge sometimes. Students sometimes feel exposed as they are likely to be seen by “others”. Yes, it is true, some walkers passing by may stop to have a look and even have a chat with you. But they actually would like to do the same and don’t dare. They admire the fact that you actually do it! These exchanges are very friendly and will help you build your confidence in time.
How to capture movement
Added to the whole experience, there is the extraordinary adaptation to the changing light throughout the day. By the seaside or an estuary, the tide won’t stay still :) And sometimes, you may be inspired by walkers, or dogs, but they never stay long! This requires that we use our memory of the “instant” and trust the creative process.
