Yellow stains due to the masking fluid
You may wonder : “Shall I use some Masking Fluid for my watercolour?
My answer : “Yes, but be careful as it may stain your paper !”.
SIMPLE KNOW-HOW ABOUT
MASKING FLUID
1/ COLOUR
Masking products for watercolour have various colours : yellow, blue and white.
Basically, you need to be aware that they can stain. It may also come from the quality of your watercolour paper, or if your masking fluid is too old.
ADVICE :
Choose it WHITE or COLOURLESS !
2/ PAPER
Be careful if you apply masking fluid on damp or soft paper.
However I would encourage you to explore and make risky choices. For instance, some of my students managed to get fantastic results using masking fluid on wet paper.
ADVICE :
Use thick paper, and choose good quality : 300 gr paper, 100% cotton
